We’ll be playing Alex Roberts’ For the Queen, a dramatic card-based storytelling game, and Kyle Shire’s Queen by Midnight, a thrilling deck builder board game with an exciting upcoming standalone expansion Quarter Past that you can get a sneak preview of!

  Queen by Midnight: Created by designer and Critical Role producer Kyle Shire, Queen By Midnight is a battle-royale deck-building card game of guile, deception, and brawn! Six Princesses each feature unique tactics to battle for the right of the Midnight Court, but only one (and maybe their inner circle) will be the winner. Queen by Midnight: Quarter Past is an expansion coming November 13th that adds 4 new Princesses, a more streamlined table presence, and 2-player rules!

  Alex Roberts is an award-winning game designer, educator, and Registered Clinical Counsellor living on Lekwungen territory. Her games focus on mechanical elegance and psychological complexity. She is best known for Star Crossed: the two-player game of forbidden love, POP!, a live-action game about an online community of balloon lovers, and For the Queen, her card-based storytelling game of love, duty, and devotion. When not concocting lists of bizarre commands (sometimes known as TTRPGs), she can usually be found tinkering with her vintage video game collection or brewing a lovely cup of tea. • Kyle Shire is a producer for Critical Role by day, innovating ever-wilder shenanigans for Critical Role’s discussion show 4-Sided Dive. Queen by Midnight is his debut game released in 2023 and nominated for Best Board Game AND Best Art for the 2023 Tabletop Awards for its stunning art and delightful gameplay. Queen by Midnight: Quarter Past is set to release on November 13th, 2024, and expands on the Princesses of Twelvefold and is a delightful standalone game or addition to the base Queen by Midnight. Kyle serves as devoted attaché to four cats and can be found performing on very serious live actual play shows such as Oops, All Himbos and spouting nonsense on social media @kyleshire.
